2008 Summer Calendar
Core Camp (1st – 4th grade)
Children finishing fourth grade may choose to join Core Camp
Cost: |
$340 per week per week.
Discounts: After the initial week all subsequent weeks will receive a $15 multi session discount.
$10 off per week for siblings.
The week of July 4 is a four day week and the cost is $252 |

9 AM – 5 PM (extended care available) |
Drop-off and Pick-up: At Mother’s Meadow Playground in Golden Gate Park on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd near 19th Avenue. As you enter the park at 19th Avenue, immediately after the gates it becomes Crossover Way. Take the first right turn and you will see the playground.

Session 1
Mon, June 23 |
Bowling at Serra Bowl and then on to Frontier Playground in Pacifica, complete with towers, hanging bridges, water feature, balance beams, dozens of slides and swings |
Tues, June 24 |
Crissy Field, a phenomenal view of the Bay, an estuary for observing wild life and a shallow lagoon for safe water play, crabbing from the Pier. Bring swimsuit and towel. |
Wed, June 25 |
Golden Gate Park to explore the gardens and lakes, climb the trees, play sports, engage in nature projects and create art inspired by nature. |
Thurs, June 26 |
Kayaking with SeaTrek in a safe shallow lagoon. Bring a swimsuit and towel. |
Fri, June 27 |
McNear's Beach along the shore of San Pablo Bay, Marin County's most popular park offers a fabulous swimming pool, a sandy beach on the San Pablo Bay for intertidal exploration, lawn areas, snack bar and a 500-foot long fishing pier. Bring a swimsuit and towel. |

Indian Valley Open Space in Novato, where we hope to see hundreds of tadpoles and baby frogs, and enjoy nature activities in a hardwood forest. |

Golden Gate Park to explore the gardens and lakes, climb the trees, play sports, engage in nature projects and create art inspired by nature. |
Thurs, July 3 |
Marin Headlands offers a variety of adventures to choose from, the beach, ponds, a trail to our own secret fort building spot. |

SESSION 3
Mon, July 7 |
Bowling at Serra Bowl, and then on to Frontier Playground in Pacifica, complete with towers, hanging bridges, water feature, balance beams, dozens of slides and swings. |
Tues, July 8 |
Kayaking with SeaTrek: we kayak in a safe shallow lagoon. Bring a swimsuit and towel. |
Wed, July 9 |
Golden Gate Park to explore the gardens and lakes, climb the trees, play sports, engage in nature projects and create art inspired by nature. |
Thurs, July 10 |
Samuel P. Taylor State Park features a unique contrast of coast redwoods groves and open grassland. We often see deer and evidence of raccoons, foxes and bobcats. The creek has lovely shallows to play in and observe creek creatures from crayfish to baby salmon. Bring a swimsuit and towel. |
Fri, July 11 |

Strybing Arboretum and Botanical Gardens for a special program where we get to work in the children's garden, catch tadpoles, and do other fun and educational activities with their talented staff.

Tues, July 15 |
Adventure Playground in Berkeley- a unique playground that enables children to creatively use hammers, nails, saws, and paint to build playhouses and forts or to make smaller things to take home. Then we catch crabs on the pier and see what other people on the pier have caught. Send children in sturdy clothes that can get very dirty. They must wear close-toed shoes (no sandals). |
Wed, July 16 |
Golden Gate Park to explore the gardens and lakes, climb the trees, play sports, engage in nature projects and create art inspired by nature. For two hours we’ll volunteer to help maintain the gardens. |
Thurs, July 17 |
Tour the Bay Model and then play on a sandy beach in Sausalito. We take a guided tour of this fantastic model to study the Bay. We learn the lingo and check out the gizmos. Subjects covered include tides, measurements, shipping, birds, fish, marine mammals, and the geography of the Bay. |
Fri, July 18 |

China Camp- along the shores of San Francisco Bay includes an extensive intertidal salt marsh, meadow and oak habitats. There is a shallow beach that's great for water play. Bring a swimsuit and towel. |

Golden Gate Park to explore the gardens and lakes, climb the trees, play sports, engage in nature projects and create art inspired by nature. |
Thurs, July 24 |
Tour the historic Presidio Stables, meet the beautiful and well trained GGNRA Park Police horses and learn about the history of the cavalry including the African American "Buffalo Soldiers." |
Fri, July 25 |

Lake Lagunitas is a jewel of a lake on Mt. Tamalpais. It’s not for swimming, but perfect for many wonderful nature activities – catching minnows, climbing trees, building forts, observing deer, wild turkeys, turtles and a wonderful variety of birds. |
Wed, July 30 |
Golden Gate Park to explore the gardens and lakes, climb the trees, play sports, engage in nature projects and create art inspired by nature. |
Thur, July 31 |
Asian Art Museum, where we'll concentrate on the Chinese collection. We'll examine sculptures, ceramics, textiles, and paintings. Students will enjoy a captivating telling of Chinese myths and folktales related to works of art. We'll participate in "AsiaAlive" an interactive program featuring live artist demonstrations, hands-on activities, videos and books. |

Marin Headlands offers a variety of adventures, the beach, ponds, a trail to our own secret fort building spot. |

At The Legion of Honor Museum we view great European Art and create some artwork of our own. Then we take the glorious Land's End trail to Ft. Miley, a hidden San Francisco treasure, a favorite place to pick blackberries. Bring a container for blackberries. |

Golden Gate Park to explore the gardens and lakes, climb the trees, play sports, engage in nature projects and create art inspired by nature. |
| Thurs, August 21 |
Fisherman’s Wharf to tour the boats at Hyde St. Pier and play at Aquatic Park. Send a bathing suit and towel. Children may bring up to $5 for souvenirs. |
