We will explore all the great places in Golden Gate Park: Stow Lake, the Tea Garden, the Arboretum, the De Young, the playgrounds and meadows. The children will come to love some of the nooks and crannies that few people know about: “magic tree land”, the police stables, the lakes and meadows at the west end of the park.
The theme of the Explorers’ Club is learning to love and understand our natural and cultural history through play and exploration. We also know that children need plenty of time and space to explore their own imaginary worlds. The park is an idyllic place for children to create kingdoms, clubhouses, space ships and become heroes or villains. To experience building a fort, create a smoking volcano, fly a kite, watch squirrels chase each other, learn where the birds nest and what insects live in our “big back yard.” Each week we’ll have a theme, but that won’t limit us from using all our senses and sense of curiosity to enjoy and learn about everything around us! |
