Time is 9 A.M. – 5 P.M. Usually we can wait up to 20 minutes, but we occasionally have appointments and have to leave right at 9 A.M. Please call 415-902-7014 if you are running late and we’ll let you know if we can wait for you.
Drop-off and Pick-up is in the Mothers’ Meadow Playground in Golden Gate Park on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd near 19th Avenue. As you drive into the park at 19th Avenue, right after the gates it becomes Crossover Way. Take the first right turn and you will see the playground.
We try to get back to the park by 3:30 p.m. Because the program is mobile it is not usually possible to pick children up before 3:30 P.M. Please let us know if you will be picking your child up early. |
|
Before and After Care is available from 8 A.M. to 9 A.M. at the Tart-to-Tart Café located at 641 Irving St. near 8th Avenue. From 5 P.M. to 6 P.M. extended care is in Mother’s Meadow Playground.
The charge for extended care is $8 per hour of care. This must be reserved with your initial enrollment.
If you need drop-in extended care, the cost is $10 per hour per child.
There will be a charge of $1 per minute for children who are picked up after 5:10 p.m. if you have not informed us that you need extended care. There will be a $1 per minute charge for any child picked up after 6:10 p.m. Please pay this fee directly to the staff member who is providing after-care. |
|
We will supervise your children carefully and do everything in our power to keep them safe. Please let us know any information about your child’s behavior or health that will help us help your child have a successful program. To be a member of the Explorers’ Club children have to be able to follow basic safety and courtesy rules.
To prepare your child please explain the following to them carefully:
“As a member of the Explorers’ Club you will get to do many interesting and exciting activities. You can only be a member of this club if you listen to and follow directions, and conduct yourself in a manner that is safe for you and the other members of the club. If you cannot follow basic rules your parents will be called and asked to come and get you immediately, or the teachers will drive you to your parents. If this happens there will be no refund.” |

-
Put sunscreen on your child. Always assume your child will be in the sun and wearing a bathing suit, so cover all areas that might be exposed.
-
We will be outside every day in all kinds of weather. Dress your child in layers, and in clothes and shoes that can get wet and very dirty.
-
Send a big lunch every day and a water bottle.
-
Do not send electronic toys
-
On days when we are in wooded areas, your child might be exposed to poison oak, or ticks. Give them a good scrubbing when they get home, check their complete bodies, wash off their back packs and shoes and launder their clothes before they wear them again. We sometimes encounter bees and wasps; let us know if your child is allergic to stings.
-
We may put insect repellant on your child. We will wash your child off with a strong soap if we think they’ve been exposed to poison oak. Please let us know if you do not want these applied to your child. If you have a particular brand you prefer, please send it with your child.
-
We get a lot of out door exercise. Your child may need more rest than usual.
-
We expect your child will come home tired, dirty, and happy, with lots to tell you!
Please tell a friend about the Club! We still have openings!

FAMILIES LOVE THE EXPLORERS CLUB! |
We were in awe of all we did in one day: A cable car ride , Lombard Street, Fishermans Wharf and the magnificent boats at the Hyde Street Pier, walked on the Golden Gate Bridge, went to the Cliff House and the Musee Mechanique, beach combed on Ocean beach, came back through Golden Gate Park and Civic Center and then took a ferry! We learned so much from the stories Susan told us and the plants and animals she pointed out . I know my kids would have been bored silly on a regular tour — Melissa Keylon
We didnt just look, we got to do and experience! The tour was fascinating and had great educational value. Susan has extensive knowledge, and is enthusiastic and fun. We saw the real San Francisco, not just the typical tourist places. We saw so much more than we could have ever seen on our own and did not have to worry about parking or directions. Well never forget it! — Sharon Peterson |
