TOUR OPTIONSTOUR DESTINATIONS

San Francisco is a city with its head in the clouds and its feet in the valleys. San Francisco is a world to explore. It is a place where the heart can go on a delightful adventure. It is a city in which the spirit can know refreshment everyday.
— William Saroyan

Why choose the Explorers' Club?

We're fascinated by the cultural, natural, and political history of the Bay Area and share our enthusiasm with you! Each tour is small and personalized so that everyone has a great time and learns at their own level, whether you are a child, adult, student or grandparent. Our tours are full of wonderful surprises because we keep our eyes, ears, and hearts open to the world around us.

Many San Franciscans have great stories to tell and knowledge to share. We've had ironworkers demonstrate their climbing equipment as they told us about their lives repairing the Golden Gate Bridge. Another time, in Chinatown's famous Ross Alley, a barber finished with his customer and came out of his shop to play Bach on a traditional Chinese instrument, the Erhu. At the visitor center in the Marin Headlands, a volunteer ranger, nicknamed "Road Kill Mary", showed us her skeleton collection. An octogenarian volunteer has a passion for showing off his great collection of windup toys.

San Francisco is surrounded by the largest greenbelt of any major city: there's so much to experience by knowing what's in the Bay and in the nearby hills, estuaries, tide pools, and beaches! We stay in tune with nature, so we spot migrating sea mammals, butterflies, and birds, locate tadpoles and newts, and watch the seasons progress through wild flowers and ever-changing weather patterns.

Whatever age you are and whoever your travel companions: family, friends, business colleagues, or fellow students, with the Explorers' Club you'll absorb the City's diverse cultures, incredible natural beauty, delicious food and excellent museums.
